Vivian Ip is a Singaporean-Chinese filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her narrative short ‘An Island Drifts’ was the inaugural grant recipient of the ARRI Support and Education (ARRIse) Program and premiered at Urbanworld with official selections by SeriesFest, Diversity in Cannes, amongst others. The film won Best Drama Film and Best Director at USC’s First Look Awards, Juried and Audience Choice awards at Cine Gear Expo, and is available for viewing on Omeleto. In addition, Vivian developed her feature 'Ashes of the Summer Heat' in the Cine Qua Non Storylines Lab, and produced the Student Academy Award-nominated narrative film 'Headlock'. She recently finished post on two projects— a dystopian proof-of-concept 'At the Water’s Edge' that played at the San Diego International Comic Convention, and her first documentary short ‘The Smart Diver’ made under the auspices of the Red Bull and Ghetto Film School Establishing Shot Filmmakers Launchpad. Vivian received her Bachelor of Laws LLB from Durham University, Film and Television Production MFA from the University of Southern California, and is a BAFTA Newcomer. She is licensed to practice law only in Singapore and California, but hopes to make films anywhere and everywhere. Her practice is centered on exploring the human condition, by capturing intimate moments and universal truths with a cinematic edge.
