Having pushed Earth beyond its limits, our quest to colonise Mars next seems perverse to me. Mass surveillance, social injustices and having been separated from loved ones are only a few of the things we have been affected by during the past pandemic. One positive I try to take from all of this I guess is that we are being pushed to rethink how to do things differently and to treasure the people and things we have in our lives.
Celikdag's work both amalgamates and fragments the genres of fashion, reportage, fine art, and portrait; revealing a distinctive approach that resists being pigeon-holed, and establishing Celikdag as an ideas-led director and photographer. His film for The Travel Almanac entitled ‘New World Order’ was awarded Best New Fashion Film and Best Green Film at the Fashion Festival Milano. Celikdag’s stills photography has appeared in Arena Homme+, Fantastic Man, L'Uomo Vogue, Die Zeit Magazine, Vogue Hommes and i-D magazine. His photography has further been featured in books such as 'Fashion Photography Now', published by Thames & Hudson, 'Fashion Now 2' and '100 Contemporary Fashion Designers', both curated by Terry Jones, published by Taschen as well as 'La mode sous toutes les coutures' curated by Florence Pinaud, published by Actes Sud Junior. Art Fair Basel, Chelsea Art Museum in New York, British Fashion Council and the Fashion and Textile Museum in London have all exhibited Celikdag's work.
