Last year, the English National Ballet announced the world premiere of its digital season, a series of five original dance films available to rent via the company’s new ballet-on-demand platform. Four of the five films were directed by OB’s Independent Directors: Amy Becker-Burnett, Shaun James Grant and Thomas James, and were produced by OB Management. The word eclectic does not do justice to the rich tapestry of creativity excelling within each individual film. From a surreal blend of fluid choreography and other-worldly aesthetics in Thomas James’ ‘Laid in Earth’, to the full charm and nostalgia of ‘Jolly Folly’, which pays homage to the golden age of Hollywood musicals, directed by Amy Becker-Burnett.
