A former assistant director and film journalist, Rob set up the film division of design collective Blue Source in 2000, creating award-winning artwork for artists and brands. He subsequently embarked (with collaborator Leigh Marling) on a successful directorial career in music videos and titles for the likes of Fat Boy Slim, Dirty Vegas, The Avalanches, and New Order, picking up an MTV Best Video Award, a BAFTA and a Grammy nomination along the way. Turning his eye to commercials, Rob built a reputation for inventive storytelling, smart humour, and carefully designed visuals, for brands including Lynx, Snickers, VW, Pizza Hut and Wrigley’s. This strongly comedic style won him awards at Cannes and The One Show, as well as Addys and Clios. Since branching out on a solo directing career in 2011, Rob has established himself as a top-tier director in the UK and US, directing ads for Walkers, Three Mobile, Cadbury’s, Bacardi, Tesco, V05, Premier Inn, Right Guard (which was awarded a Clio) and a multi-award winning Super Bowl spot for Febreze. Rob's latest short ‘Meeting Mr Samuels’, starring Charlie Creed-Miles, is currently on the festivals circuit, winning Best International Short at DISFMF and qualifying for Leeds Film Festival and New York Shorts International Film Festival.
