Nicolas “Nico” Gordon is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. After graduating from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a double major in Film & Television and History, he began collaborating with directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon of Speck and Gordon as a previs editor for their sci-fi feature “DISTANT.” With myriad complex sequences involved, Speck and Gordon needed someone they could trust – who also had a directorial eye – to shape their storyboards into an animatic and provide a better sense of the full film. The working relationship continued on Speck and Gordon’s most recent feature film, “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” which was released in October 2022. Nicolas is in the midst of editing a narrative short, “The One Who Rang,” which was shot on 35mm in Sleepy Hollow, NY, and he is in pre-production on two upcoming short films. Recently, Nicolas landed back-to-back projects for Potential Energy and Brooklyn Film Festival, launching his career as a commercial director. The work he strives to create naturally embodies dramatic tension, with themes of humor and fate; there’s a sense of anticipation, inevitability, and cinematic tonality that allows for his work to not only feel captivating, but also striking.
