On The Cusp, Longlist - Personal Project
Moment of Pause
Nathan R. Smith
When the stay-at-home order was given this past March, I made a point of supporting my favorite locally owned mom-and-pop stores that were trying to make ends meet. The only people I interacted with outside of my family were the acquaintances I already had and new ones I made on my outings. I was moved by the attitude of everyone, waiting amongst the barren stores, braving potential danger to serve our neighborhood. Knowing all of this, I began to feel restless from the comfort of my home. Over the course of a week in early May, I brought along my 16mm camera and used leftover rolls of KODAK film to create a visual love letter I could share with the essential workers and businesses in my community.
