Writer-director Max Hemmings cut his teeth editing in London after graduating the Australian Film & Television School Directing program. This experience inflected his work with an intense focus on rhythm, evident in the choreography of his fashion work for FILA and Bottega Veneta, or the subtle fluidity of his Nowness documentaries. Max’s short film ‘The Kicked Dog’ (2021) - starring Alan Ford (Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels) and Clive Russell (Game of Thrones, Ripper Street) is beginning its festival circuit life, having so far been selected for Manchester International Film Festival, Exit 6 Film Festival, BAFTA and BIFA qualifying Bolton International Film Festival, and selected as a semi-finalist to the Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival. He is currently developing projects around his personal focus on climate refugees. Based on his experience working with NGOs in Bangladesh, a short documentary ‘Shipbreakers’ is currently in post, with a scripted feature project in development. Max is represented by RadicalMedia in the UK and Germany.
