Speak Chinese We’re in America—named after one of the many phrases engraved into Ada Chen’s jewelry that spits back and rearranges a previous idea pushed in the white standard for being American—is an emphasis on the types of direct conversations that Chen runs towards in order to bring her audience to reflect upon themselves and how they play a role in her work.

Mackie Mallison is a filmmaker, writer, and editor living in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently an undergraduate student at Pratt Institute’s film B.F.A. program. In addressing topics through his work such as race, class, and the realities attached to the experiences of coming-of-age, Mackie works to examine and deconstruct what divides us.
