René Magritte meets the perfect family. Emotional abuse is kind of surreal; it's invisible, sometimes even for the victims themselves. But: emotional abuse is abuse! For us it was important to tell the audience about the undefined "something is wrong" feeling by showing daily life situations in an unusual way and creating the danger through over-stylized, perfect situations. Happy Holy Family shows abuse in an uncommon way and focuses on the feeling of it.

Lea Thurner was born 1998 in Soest. After graduating school she worked as a freelance copywriter in an advertising agency based in Munich. There she discovered her passion for storytelling which she has been living out at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg since 2018.
