For our grandmothers. Without them, we would not be here. "Thank You Grandma" is a tender portrayal of a lifelong relationship between a grandson and his grandmother. Made in honour of Asian Heritage Month, this film is a celebration of love in all its many forms and a story of coming home to ourselves.
Jon has always been drawn to universal stories woven from underrepresented people. Raised by Chinese parents born in Lima, Peru, he grew up in his family’s grocery store in East Vancouver. Walking the blurred lines of his Chinese and Latino heritage, he developed a sensitivity that he uses to reveal the truths about our shared experiences. A commercial director and filmmaker, he's currently represented by Sequoia in Canada. His work's been acknowledge by the Berlin Commercial Awards, NOWNESS, Shots.net, Filmshortage, Music Bed Awards, the Whistler Film Festival, Asian American Film Festival and BOOOOOOOM among many others.
