Coral reefs have existed for 400 million years, but due to climate change, they're currently on track to all but disappear within a few decades. Raised in a small town in the USA's Pacific Northwest, Janssen grew up longing to travel. At 21 years of age, a film assignment would present him his first opportunity to leave North America, and over the next five years, he would travel to six continents capturing films in some of the world's most remote corners. Janssen's work has been acknowledged globally, with films recognized at 1.4's New Director's Showcase, Cannes Young Director Awards, the Webby Awards, One Screen Film Festival, and in five Vimeo Staff Picks. After spending most of his twenties in New York City, Janssen is currently based in Portland, OR.
