Francesca Canepa is a Peruvian director who strives to tell stories with a socially conscious message. El Silencio del Río, currently in distribution, is her second short film shot in the Amazon river, premiered at the Berlinale 2020 and Longlisted for Best Live Action Short Film at the Academy Awards 2021. Being the first Peruvian short film to reach to this stage. Her first Short Film AYA, shot in the peruvian Andes, obtained the price of Best Ibero American Short Film at the Guadalajara’s International Film Festival (FICG) 2017 and gain international attention from the cinema critics. Recently, Francesca was selected to participate at the Talents Buenos Aires for its 2021 edition. After studying a scriptwriting degree at the EICTV from Cuba, she’s currently working on her first feature film script ‘’La Otra Orilla’’ (Belén) selected at the BR LAB, a development atelier for feature films in Brazil, 2021. Francesca is represented by the production company Primo Content in Mexico and Spain where she works as a music video, advertising and documentary director. She studied Cinema at the University from Montpellier and she holds a Master degree in Filmmaking from the ESCAC, the Cinema School from Catalunya and a Directing master degree from EFTI Cinema School from Madrid.
