The East-German born, Paris based artist’s work borders photography, art and moving image. His work bridges the sensual and the surreal, exploring themes as delicate and intricate as the feminine side of black masculinity, queer and transgender cultures across the world and race. Across his work in fashion and personal portraiture projects he uses the camera to capture a dialogue between himself and his subjects. Florian Joahn has created visuals for brands and publications such as Nike, Fenty, Vogue Italia, Guiseppe Zanotti, Foam Museum, CNN, Ninamounah, KAF & Glamcult and worked with artists such as Skepta, Akwasi, Rita Ora and Yussef Dayes. Also working as the art director for Daily Paper he has crafted a visual identity and voice for the brand and platform. Telling stories around race, parenthood and self expression.
