Grandma's Necklace

From Wednesday-Sunday, the market - the reliquary, the memory exchange - is open; some of the tradespeople are local; some from the outskirts of London. Regardless, their treasures and tat are brought to Douglas Way at about 6.30a.m; stalls ready for a 9a.m. The market tradespeople were extremely helpful during the shoot, allowing us to use their space and film them with both excitement and compassion. Thanks Ali & co. 'Grandson', Tobias Watt, and I were mates from back home in sunny, sunny Dorset; I put a call out on instagram and he seemed keen to be a part. Both he and Yvonne Jeffery, 'Grandma', manage to convey all we need to know without a single word of dialogue. Talent, that. Yvonne also demonstrated the utmost of composure and patience, having had myriad flashing lights shone into her eyes for hours at a time. Not including actors, there were five of us in the crew throughout the lifespan of the project; most of us covering about 3 roles each. We did it for the sake of doing it, and, for that reason, everyone was paid in tokens of self-respect. Cameras broke, rain ensued and hearts were lifted when shooting the climax.
