A 2018 recipient of AMPAS’s UK Gold Fellowship Award, Ethosheia is a hugely talented and prolific young filmmaker. Having started her career as an actress, studying for two years at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC, she quickly moved into directing and has since cast, directed and produced 5 of her own short films. Brixton Rock is based on the novel by Alex Wheatle depicts the struggles of children in the 1980s care system. It played in the London Short Film Festival last year; BBC Films have commissioned a feature length version which is in advanced development. Last year Ethosheia also directed the short In The Silence , a tense and penetrating portrait of a veteran’s struggle with PTSD. Her latest, “Dolápò is Fine”, won the HBO Best Short Film at The American Black Film Festival 2020.
