Daniel Sannwald is recognised as a preeminent influence on contemporary photography and music videos. His signature style, characterised by stark compositions of colour and darkness, helped popularise the hyperreal aesthetic. A protege of Nicola Formichetti, Daniel made his name in fashion and music photography. He is a regular contributor to British Vogue, Dazed, i-D, Arena Homme+ and Pop. He has also photographed campaigns for Prada, Moncler, Stella McCartney, Nike, Adidas and Hugo Boss, as well as iconic album art for Eartheater, Miguel, Kelela and M.I.A. Since transitioning into video, Daniel has directed standout visuals for some of the most influential names in fashion and music, including Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Lebron James, Travis Scott, Will Smith and Pharell. Recently, Daniel directed a campaign for Ivy Park Rodeo, starring Beyoncé. He also shot music videos for ‘Fue Mejor’ by Kali Unchis and SZA, ‘Made of Gold’ for Ibeyi ft Pa Salieu, and ‘Unveiled’ by Flohio. Daniel’s most recent campaigns include Nike x Skepta ‘SkAir’, ‘Welcome to the OZ WORLD’ for Adidas, and a series of films starring Isamaya Ffrench for Byredo. Daniel grew up in Munich, Germany.
