The film, set in Tokyo, explores the realization that there can be someone more important in your own life than yourself, as we watch a father confronting his past. Alaskan Tapes is the ever-evolving ambient music project of Toronto-based composer Brady Kendall. Of Woods and Seas marks the fourth collaboration with director Andrew De Zen in an on going series of thematically connected films.
Andrew has been drawn to film since he was a child and has since become a filmmaker with a focus on emotional storytelling and evocative, poetic visuals. His love for film and stories also reaches into photography and animation, bringing a fresh editorial eye to his approach. He has gone on to work on several global brands such as Under Armour, Ford, SiriusXM, ESPN, Sony, Cadillac, Nike, IBM, etc. Andrew created, directed and produced a series of connected short films called "Of Walls & Mountains" which was shortlisted at the Young Director Awards at Cannes in 2018. His film "Places" for Alaskan Tapes was also shortlisted at Cannes and nominated for Best Video of The Year at the Juno Awards in 2019.
