Teeth was a labor of love, we started the project just after the pandemic broke in NYC. I found Teeth through his Instagram and quickly arranged a series of interviews. However, finding the story that could be told in just 2 minutes was a massive challenge. It took many months of scrutinizing the transcripts and hearing over lengthy interviews until we finally understood the story we wanted to tell. After that, we were off to the races, and with my DP Gabe, we crafted a visual language that tried to tell Teeth's story in the most honest way. We didn't want to recreate scenes, we were more interested in making those moments (EG, police chase, quitting subway dancing) more abstract.
