“After making Serious Tingz in 2019, I really wanted to create something closer to home. A somewhat love letter to my mum. To change the narrative by heralding her and all Black Mums as the true heroes in our lives. Who, more often than not, are brandished with broad strokes. This film aims to demystify this by not shying away from the misconceptions. It’s kinda the thing I love doing in my work. I love taking people on a rollercoaster filled with emotions where they’re led to a place where they really feel something much deeper. Hopefully once people watch the film they want to call their Mums, thank them or in my case stop missing their calls”, says Cissé.
