Gabi worked in commercial production in the UK, heading up sales for companies like HSI and Gorgeous, later becoming an EP for Knucklehead and Sonny London. Since then she has co-founded Invincible Unicorn, an ethical creative communications company and B Corp, and Green the Bid, a grass-roots initiative working to support a shift in the commercial production industry to zero-waste, carbon neutral, sustainable and regenerative practices.

Gabi Kay
I was born in….
The Royal Free in London

I now live in…
Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles.

But if I could live anywhere, it would be…
Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles.

Right now, I’m binge-watching…
The Queen’s Gambit.

The last track I listened to was…
Celebration - Kool and the Gang. It's playing all over the city.

I dream about…
Big parties in packed rooms

The app I couldn’t survive without is…
Zoom. Isn’t everyone going to say that?

Social media is…
Constant

When we can travel again, I’ll be heading to…
Devon, to see my mum.

The most important lesson I’ve learned in 2020…
Cause something you care about. We can all do it, even stuck in our bedrooms.

The best/worst thing about lockdown was…
Best thing: Hanging with my kids.
Worst thing: A feeling of impotency

What the film industry needs is…
Vast quantities of funding for brave, brilliant, unique work.

What I wish I’d known when I was starting my career…
It really doesn’t matter what you do, it is how you do it that will bring you joy.

The best advice I’ve ever been given…
The world changes less than you’d expect in five years and more than you could ever imagine in ten.

The film I wish I’d made…
Kind Hearts and Coronets. I have a thing for young Alec Guinness.

My biggest inspiration is…
My dad for his brilliance, my mum for her creativity, my husband for his wit, and my kids for their fearlessness.

The person I would canonise is…
AOC

If I wasn’t eating cheese in lockdown... I’d be…
10 lbs lighter.

My last meal would be…
The contents of Neil’s Yard Dairy.
