Walter Stoehr is a visual storyteller from Germany who specializes in directing and writing commercials as well as music films. With a knack for incorporating visual effects in his work, the worlds he creates feel expansive while complementing the story effortlessly. With all his films he strives to give the audience the chance to really connect to the material. Igniting empathy in the viewer by constructing an arresting narrative is at the heart of his efforts. This story-centered approach, coupled with the creation of powerful visuals, leads to captivating short films which generate substantial impact within the target audience.

Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night. These lines from William Blake's famous poem are bound to become reality if we continue down our chosen path. The Tiger is the most popular animal on the planet. At the same time the big cat species finds itself on the IUCN red list for being critically endangered. Three of the known subspecies are already extinct and the South China tiger appears to have suffered the same fate. This paradoxical situation is the foundation of The Tyger, a short film concerned with making the plight of the tiger palpable to an audience that might be able to affect the animal's fate. It was an enormous challenge to have the majestic and powerful grace of the tiger be transported adequately to the audience without doing any harm to the cause. We had to see this beautiful animal on screen without contributing to its exploitation. That's why we opted for working with an animal welfare organisation which works to rescue animals under direct human influence. We then mixed the small bits of footage of real tigers with full 3D environments and cg cats. These worlds had to be meticulously designed in order to be believable and feel real. That approach was supplemented by using 16mm film. By keeping the production team ridiculously small we greatly reduced our footprint.
