Director's Works

Patience (Sabali) Valentin Guiod
Valentin Guiod is a writer and director who trained at the National School of Applied Arts Olivier de Serre in Paris and at the prestigious University of the Arts in London. After directing music films including ‘Breathtaking’ (2022) featuring Finnegan Oldfield and Diane Rouxel (supported by the CNC, MK2, La Sacem, and Trois Couleurs) and ‘Sabali’ (2024) for DJ Snake and Amadou & Mariam, featuring Omar Sy and Alassane Diong, he directed his first short film ‘Frater’ (2024), recently awarded with the Jury Prize at the European Short Film Festival of Bordeaux.
Loosely inspired by Mahmoud Traoré’s underground story in ‘Partir et Raconter’ (Édition Lignes, 2017), between Abidjan and Seville, Sabali addresses the patience of the migratory journey, from a human perspective. Through violence and obstacles, Moudou will invoke memories of an immortal love. Departing feeds the hope for what comes after, and the memory of what came before.
