Raised between Ukraine and Cuba, Tanu Muiño is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, Ukraine, and London. Tanu has ascended to the status as being one of the world's most culturally relevant and in-demand directors known for her "world-building" directing style that has made her a must-hire for artists from Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Rosalia, Lenny Kravitz, Post Malone, Rosalia, Elton John, Sam Smith, Lil Nas X, Labrinth, and to name a few. Tanu has been nominated for "Video of the Year" and "Best Director" at the MTV VMAs for the last 3 years and won both for Lil Nas X's "Montero." Tanu has been blessed with the coveted Best Video Grammy nomination for the past two years and won Best Director at the UKMVAs for the last 2 years in a row. Born in Cuba and raised in Ukraine, Tanu's childhood was filled with competitive dancing, choreography, and an addiction to MTV before diving into fashion and starting one of Ukraine's biggest fashion brands, "Jealousy," where she helmed all of Jealousy's fashion ads and photoshoots. This all fueled Tanu's unique visual point of view and quickly led her into the music video world, where she's known as a visionary who takes chances and pushes cultural boundaries while riding the delicate balance between being subversive and pop culture. Tanu often finds herself braving the hostilities to return to Ukraine a few times a year to continue directing music videos for Ukrainian artists as a show of support.
