EE, The Shirt Saman Aminzadeh
Saman Aminzadeh is a filmmaker from Bradford. Saman had learned his craft working with the best in the business, assisting and shooting 2nd unit for Daniel Wolfe & Bradford Young among others. Saman was a key creative force behind the 2023 multi award winning Channel 4 Idents, writing and directing two of the idents and collaborating significantly on the overall creative vision. In spring 2024 Saman directed the EE Euros sponsorship campaign, THE SHIRT, which called on the nation to stand against hate and be proud supporters this summer and beyond.
Making The Shirt felt like a really important undertaking. We were looking to challenge head on the massive issue of hatred, specifically racism, in English football. Showing how easily the darker aspects of the game can emerge, and to emphasise our collective responsibility to call out this behaviour whenever we witness it. Not an easy thing to do! We approached the film with an emphasis on showing reality in a heightened way. To stay true to working with real football fans and show the range of human emotion that football evokes.
