Amazon x UEFA Women's Football, The Grit Molly Manning Walker
BAFTA nominated director, Molly Manning Walker is a true, one-of-a kind directing talent with a style of work that is always emotionally engaging and full of charm, sensitivity and realism. Molly arrived at Rogue in early 2024 to coincide with the launch of her debut commercial for TV. The film for Amazon’s new Pan-European UEFA Women’s Football Brand Campaign centred around Molly’s passion for football and is a celebration of the skill, spirit and sheer quality in the women’s game today. Molly has so far been shortlisted for Best New Director at both the 2024 Young Arrows and the Shots Awards, for this spot. Her multi award winning feature film, How to Have Sex (2023) neatly depicts the joy and pain of teenage girlhood, is an impressive directorial debut and a strong showcase of not only Molly’s talent but of breakthrough British talent across the board. How To Have Sex, won the Un Certain Regard Award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and the European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI at the 36th European Film Awards. As well as this, the film also earned three nominations at the 77th British Academy Film Awards including Outstanding British Film and Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Mia McKenna Bruce, the film’s lead actor, won the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award for her incredible performance. Film4 and BFI developed the project and financed alongside mk2 Films and it’s set to be released later this year by MUBI. Her first feature film as a cinematographer - Scrapper directed by Charlotte Regan won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2023. Molly was nominated at the BIFAS for best cinematography and the film went on to be nominated for Outstanding British Film at the 77th British Academy Film Awards. Molly’s first short film Good Thanks, You? was included in the Semaine De La Critique program at Cannes and her second short The Forgotten C was BIFA nominated. A graduate of the 2019 NFTS Cinematography course in 2019, Molly was picked as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2021.
