Director's Works

Helsinki International Film Festival, You Are What You Watch Jan Sederlöf
Jan Sederlöf began his career as a copywriter, quickly becoming one of the most awarded creatives in his native Finland. After a decade spent writing scripts for others to direct, he finally mustered up the courage to be the one saying 'action.' While he resists being pigeonholed, he’s open to being thought of as Finland’s equivalent of Spike Jonze—whatever that means.
It’s said we are what we eat. But in today’s world we’re increasingly what we watch as well. Sadly, what we watch is mostly served to us by social media algorithms. This passive consumption is not only addictive and divisive, but makes us feel like shit. A well curated film festival has the exact opposite effect. This film for the Helsinki International Film Festival, also written by the Jan Sederlöf, marks his directorial debut.
