The Last Dumpling is a passion project I’ve dreamed of bringing to life for ages. Two guys battling over the last dumpling, chopsticks clashing, dumplings flying on wires, and a cute dog—how could I not make this? It’s my homage to Hong Kong cinema and legends like Buster Keaton and Jackie Chan, blending slick, no-dialogue storytelling with physical comedy and pure action. I wanted to create something fast-paced and short, with campy, fun music that makes audiences laugh and escape for a moment. Infused with a British sense of humour—quirky, sharp, and a little absurd—to give it a unique twist. I used Sergio Leone close ups on the eyes to add intense, animated moments combined with back lighting and long handheld takes to allow the action to flow. The challenge of telling a story through subtext and action alone is so thrilling to me, and I hope it brings as much joy to watch as it did to make!
