Director's Works

Harvey Pearson is a self-taught director, writer, and photographer whose work spans narrative and visual storytelling, blending visceral and introspective qualities while exploring the human experience at its heart. Harvey's portfolio includes short films like In My Mind and commercial projects for brands such as Jack Daniel’s and Fendi. His directing credits also feature Dusk, Dark, Dawn—a trilogy of films for SG Lewis—and music videos for artists including Sam Smith, Jessie Buckley, and The Japanese House.
At the start of summer, my friend and long-time collaborator Ben Dowie came to visit me and Cicely (producer). Whenever we can, we try to find something to work on together. During his visit, we decided to talk to our friend and neighbour, Susan. As we sat with her, Susan shared stories from her life and her hopes for the future of humanity. It was a deeply inspiring, magical experience—her wisdom and optimism left a lasting impact on all of us. Since filming, Susan has received a difficult diagnosis, which, along with other personal events, made me stop and revisit the footage. I quickly realised it now held even greater significance, and I understood what this film would become. If I’m fortunate enough to live to 92, I hope I can look back on life with the same contentment and faith in the future that Susan shared with us. Her wisdom and spirit continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of hope.
