Denise Moreno is a Spanish-American writer and director based in London. Denise started writing and performing comedy from a young age. At 16 she was doing comedy sketches and improv shows in dive bars around Madrid (the legal drinking age back then!). After taking an M.A in Directing and Playwriting at Trinity College Dublin she moved to London where she immersed herself in filmmaking. She has written and directed a number of award-winning short films, music videos, comedy tv pilots and commercial work. In May 2020, Denise Moreno was selected by HBO in the top twentyfive emerging directors for the semi-final round of the 2020 HBOAccess Directing Fellowship. In June 2024, she was selected for the ECAM Series Forum in Madrid with Estrella del Green, winning the SERIES MANIA prize. She also developed the same series at the TORINO SERIES LAB in 2023. Moreno was a semi-finalist in HBOAccess’s Directing Fellowship and named a 'TOP FILMMAKER TO WATCH' by Screen International in 2024.

Lulú, a 7-year-old girl, helps her mother prepare for a night out with friends, just after her recent mastectomy. Doubt creeps in as her mother questions her appearance, but after she discovers a voice note her daughter records for her, she begins to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. Director’s note: I created this film to raise awareness that younger women are also affected by breast cancer. In collaboration with Lucia Vioqué, who was diagnosed at the age of 27 and, now 31, has undergone a double mastectomy without reconstruction, we wanted to highlight the underrepresentation of young women facing this diagnosis. This film explores how breast cancer can reshape their lives, self-image, and sense of femininity. Rather than relying on the usual dramatic approach, I aimed to tackle this subject with a gentle and light-hearted tone, offering a more nuanced and relatable perspective. The film is an ode to an alternative beauty and femininity.
