EE TV, Playdate Caleb Femi
Caleb Femi’s creative practice spans the realms of film, photography, fashion, art and poetry. To date, his limitless vision has led him to direct short films, fashion shows, brand campaigns, TV episodes, and music videos, and author an award-winning poetry collection. Londoner Caleb’s latest short, Giraffe was selected for Sundance Film Festival, and he’s also directed hit TV episodes for series such as Industry (HBO/BBC) and Champion (NETFLIX/BBC). His love of music – evident across his artistic output – saw him shoot: ‘Lahai’, a short film to accompany Sampha’s latest album, and Caleb continues to work closely with Sampha across key creative elements of the campaign, including the recent live direction of his Alexandra Palace show. A frequent collaborator of Virgil Abloh, Caleb directed multiple Louis Vuitton campaign films and, notably: ‘SHOW 8’ – Abloh’s final runway presentation. And he’s helmed further commercials and envisioned campaigns for the likes of Bottega Veneta, Mulberry and TikTok. His latest advert to launch is the duly rambunctious ‘Playdate’ for EE. A Dazed 100 talent, Caleb’s photography has also featured in Magma and New Currency, and was presented in Louis Vuitton’s ‘Virgil Abloh’ book. His stills also illustrate his outstanding book debut: POOR (Penguin Random House, 2020), which won the Forward Prize for best first poetry collection. While his superbly reviewed, new novel-in-poems, The Wickedest (4th Estate, 2024) is attracting praise for its cinematic, life-affirming qualities.
