Ivan Dorn, Foreign Root Andzej Gavriss
Andzej Gavriss, a multi-award-winning director from Latvia, graduated from the University of Audio Visual Arts in 2015. Renowned for his experimental filmmaking, his work has been featured at prestigious venues such as The Centre Pompidou, Summerhall Edinburgh, Panorama Berlin, and Brown University. Based between Berlin and LA, Andzej is an avid traveler, directing projects worldwide.
With the World turning upside down lately, I felt like making a film as naive and honest as a child’s drawing. The plot was inspired by my own journey—immigrating from Latvia to the UK 15 years ago. 50 hours on a bus with people chasing opportunities, working in warehouses with others from all over the world, and finally finding peace with my own troubled identity.
