Director's Works

Hi! I’m Andrea, a director based in Milan, Italy. I started my creative work as a 3D animator and a VFX supervisor for one of the biggest post production companies in Milan. Nevertheless, in 2012, after I attended a seminar with Werner Herzog, I decided to focus my work on storytelling through video. In 2015 I take part of a new projet: REVOLUTION DEPARTMENT a creative studio focused on developing animation video, live action and stop motionprojets. Currently work as freelance film director in Italy and overseas.
In Sardinia’s most mountainous region, we celebrates the women of Desulo and the traditional dress that connects their past and present
Connected to the island’s customs and traditions through his Sardinian mother, Italian director Andrea Pecora travels to Desulo in the Sardinian hinterland – an ancient mountain village set against the rocky peaks and trails of Barbagia.
Locked in history by its geography, ancient customs have been largely preserved in this mountainous region of Sardinia, and their folk costumes remain some of Europe’s oldest forms of traditional dress, with designs and fabrics unique to each village. In Desulo, and the rural communities that surround it, some women still wear the traditional costume as their only dress – sewn by hand, and decorated with intricate needlework.
“The embroideries and details are filled with stories, and thanks to Sardinian women, they continue to live on. This project was born from the desire to pay tribute to the women of Desulo, and all the women of Sardinia who, with their strength and determination, represent the beating heart of their communities.”
Paying tribute to this rich cultural tradition and its continuation, short film A Desulo bridges past and present with the traditional costume of Desulo as its protagonist – connecting stories from the village’s women in a fabric of memories that spans generations. Between daily life and celebrations, Pecora captures the women of a community that has resisted change, honoring the rugged landscape and the pastoral lifestyle they stand to protect.
