Alex Kühn gained his first experience in the film industry while studying piano at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. His passion for music led him into the advertising industry. He shot two short films as a Director of Photography, one of which was selected for the Student Etudes of the Camerimage Festival in 2014. During his piano studies, he directed the concert recording of a benefit concert by the German band Die Toten Hosen at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf: "Willkommen in Deutschland." He then began his directing studies at the Baden Württemberg Film Academy. Kühn focused on emotional, character-driven storytelling and directed the award-winning film "Josh and Jacob," about childhood friends who drift apart as they grow older. In 2022, he won the Young Director Award in Cannes and the Newcomer Award at the German Advertising Film Award. His project "Pokerface," about teenagers growing up with alcoholic parents and engaging in binge drinking, won numerous awards and was officially used by the charity NACOA. In addition to his work as a director, Kühn plays and teaches piano and volunteers in refugee accommodations. In recent years, he has realised major campaigns for Porsche, Xing, Telekom, and Aldi, including one that won a Bronze CLIO for "Best Direction."

A young man plans to propose to his girlfriend with a "MARRY ME!" surprise behind the car, visible only when the rearview camera is activated. He waits excitedly in the passenger seat, confident she'll need to reverse to leave the parking spot, ensuring she sees the proposal But his girlfriend, a skilled driver, easily manoeuvres the ID.4 out without reversing, thanks to its tight turning radius. He watches the surprise shrink in the rearview mirror. So much for the proposal.
