It’s been seven hours, three months, and 13 years since we first launched 1.4 – a scrappy, obsessive, daily blog curating the sharpest filmmakers for their originality and craft.
And after 13 years, our mission remains the same: To unearth and showcase the edgiest, most groundbreaking work in the world. Except now, a humble blog can no longer contain the volume of films, visuals, interviews, and ideas we’re obsessed with.
So here it is: the new 1.4 magazine. Not polished to a corporate sheen. Not wrapped in a perfect bow. But alive, kicking, and full of attitude. It’s still a work in progress, but we’re rolling with it – warts, typos, and all – because we’re here to celebrate bold filmmaking, not bureaucratic perfection.
Alongside our signature interviews, we’re introducing Guest Curator which dives into the films and experiences that have shaped bold creative minds, and The Drop – a rapid-fire look at what’s trending, what’s breaking, and what we consider exceptional filmmaking.
And speaking of exceptional – it’s been a standout year for entries in the 1.4 Awards of Brilliant Filmmaking. We’ll be announcing and showcasing the shortlist any minute now.
This is just the beginning. Get in, explore, and stay tuned – we’ll be adding, refining, and (probably) breaking things as we go. Welcome to the new 1.4.
